Chicago's quadcast of Progressive Talk, WCPT, had only one daily Air America program: The Ron Reagan Show. With last week's announcement of Air America's collapse, Ron Reagan was set to work with a different syndicator and begin new shows this week, so fans & listeners would not even notice any behind-the-scenes change. However, in a surprise move, Ron Reagan decided to just walk away from his radio show yesterday afternoon. That decision left many political talk radio stations frantically scrambling for a replacement. Chicago's WCPT (as well as a handful of other stations across the country) have decided to go with The Norman Goldman Show as the replacement program. WCPT made the announcement on their website this morning.

Many WCPT listeners will recognize Norman's name & voice, as he has been a contributor and fill-in for Ed Schultz's midday show (and still contributes to Ed's show even though he now has his own). Just a few months ago, Goldman decided to start his own progressive syndicated talk show. With the collapse of Air America and the quitting of Ron Reagan, Goldman has found himself in the right place at the right time. In addition to Chicago's WCPT, he has also been picked up today by stations in Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Ithaca, Reno and Madison, WI.

Though born & raised in New York, Norman Goldman moved to California while in his 20's and became an attorney there. All his life, Goldman has been a fan of and involved with both radio and politics. He was involved with his high school and college radio stations, as both an engineer and personality. He also interned and worked with many political campaigns at the same time. He had a short lived weekend talk show in LA in 2004, before joining Ed Schultz's program as a regular legal consultant and guest host.

Goldman's take on politics is not as far left-leaning as others heard on WCPT. He tends to be much more moderate than many, even leaning toward the right on certain issues. He considers himself a "conservative," but differs on many issues that other radio "conservatives" talk about. The slogan on Goldman's website says "It's Not About Left and Right, It's About Right and Wrong."

Goldman does his radio show out of Los Angeles from 3:00pm-6:00pm Pacific Time. That means, WCPT will be carrying the show LIVE from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Listeners can call in and talk with him at 888-321-6001.
