Without fanfare (or even a statement from Tribune Co.), WGN-Channel 9's cable superstation was relaunched Monday as "WGN America."
Formerly branded as Superstation WGN, the national cable and satellite outlet also boasts a new logo -- a stylized version of a woman's eyes -- and the new slogan: "TV You Can't Ignore."
If the slogan sounds familiar, that's because it comes right out of Tribune Co. Chief Operating Officer Randy Michaels' bag of tricks. Radio-Info.com notes that when Michaels ran the Jacor broadcast company for Sam Zell in the 1990s, he labeled it: "Radio You Can't Ignore."
