CLTV boss helps in Hartford, Esquire's poignant look at Roger Ebert, Warren Beatty's Tribune Co. fight for 'Dick Tracy' continues and more
Steve Farber, general manager of Chicago Tribune parent Tribune Co.'s CLTV cable channel, is pulling temporary double duty as interim news director of WTIC-TV, the company's Fox affiliate in Hartford, Conn.
A WTIC memo said Bob Rockstroh's exit -- in the middle of the February ratings period -- enables him to “pursue other goals," according to thelaurelct.com.

There's an exceptional piece by Chris Jones well worth your time in the March issue of Esquire magazine on how the health battles that robbed Chicago Sun-Times film critic and blogger extraordinaire Roger Ebert of his speaking voice have amplified his writing, bringing a flood of prose from this city's leading newspaperman that we probably wouldn't see otherwise.
Ebert said by e-mail he liked the piece. He later expanded on his feelings about it and filled in some of the blanks with typical candor and eloquence on his blog, Roger Ebert's Journal. This, too, is recommended reading. Think of it as similar to a DVD commentary track
Jones, meanwhile, spoke with Chicago Public Radio's WBEZ-FM 91.5 about the piece on Wednesday's edition of "Eight Forty-Eight."

Longtime local TV exec Dominic Mancuso, who spent more than 20 years between Tribune Co.'s WGN-Ch. 9 and Fox-owned WFLD-Ch. 32 and WPWR-Ch. 50, has landed in Nashville as general manager of Sinclair Broadcast Group's WZTV-TV and WUXP-TV, as well as head of sales and other non-programming related services of WNAB-TV pursuant to the company's outsourcing agreement there.
"Being responsible for the operations of three-stations in a single market is an attractive opportunity for me," Mancuso said in a statement. "Although the stations already have quality programming, a loyal viewer base and are active participants in the community, I eagerly look forward to working with the staff to build upon that foundation and provide even greater purpose for our local audiences and advertisers."
