Illinois Broadcaster Charged With Gunplay
LA SALLE COUNTY BROADCASTING CORP. Talk WLPO-A/LA SALLE, IL Farm Director ROD THORSON was charged SUNDAY with firing a shot outside a neighbor's home, then pointing the reloaded gun at the neighbor. The LA SALLE NEWS TRIBUNE reports that THORSON faces a possible 1-3 year sentence if convicted on the charges, which include a felony count of reckless discharge of a firearm and a misdemeanor count of unlawful use of a weapon.
The charges arose after a neighbor complained that THORSON, who the neighbor described as "intoxicated," allegedly came to the door several times, then returned with a 12-gauge shotgun, which he allegedly discharged into the air, reloaded, and pointed at the neighbor, who slammed the door, hit the floor, and called 911. The state's attorney said that THORSON denied firing the shot, although police found a spent shell casing at the scene.
