Sounds like he's abolished 80% of the typical TV news vocabulary.
However, a few of these actually make sense.
: “Flee” meaning “run away”
Copspeak ... Although to their credit I have never seen or heard a news story that said "The subject entered a dark 4-door vehicle and fled."
: 5 a.m. in the morning
Okay, but this should be obvious. 5 a.m. is sufficient.
: “Good” or “bad” news
: “Laud” meaning “praise”
^
| Silly.
: “Seek” meaning “look for”
Sure, why use only one word when you can use two?
: Allegations
I do not deny the allegations, I deny the allegator!
Seriously though, I can see where you can do without "allegation," (substitute "charge," "accusation," etc), but giving up "alleged" might be a bit harder.
: Area residents
What about our old friend Area Man?
: At this point in time
Or as some call it: "Now"
: Authorities
I don't like that word, probably because I don't much like authority. I like "public servants" better. Conjures the image of butlers and maids, which is what they ought to be.
: Clash with police
Sounds like a rad concert ticket from 1983.
: Completely destroyed, completely abolished, completely finished or any other completely redundant use
We should completely abolish repetitive redundancies.
: Definitely possible
Not ungrammatical, but excessive .
: Down there
Don't go there.
: Dubbaya when you mean double you
That's how the ex-president said it.
: Eye Rack or Eye Ran
Yeah, those get on my nerves too. E-roc, E-ron. Those are not hard for the American tongue to say. Just pronounce 'em right.
: Fatal death
Ha
: Folks
Don't want to give free advertising to gangbangers
: Giving 110%
Now just find a way to stop athletes and coaches from saying this.
: Hunnert when you mean hundred
Whaddaya mean, I DID say hunnert.
: Medical hospital
WHA? Who ever said this??
: Shower activity
That sounds like a DVD starring slutty coeds.
: Undocumented alien
Let's just go back to "illegal."
: Unrest
For once, I'd like to hear about an outbreak of civil rest.
: You folks
I always preferred the Limbaughism "you people."
