Clear Channel's WNUA-FM is bringing a new radio personality to town. Omar Romero, Mega 95.5's Program Director announced today the hiring of Chi Chi to host evenings from 7:00pm to Midnight.
"I'm excited to have Chi Chi join the Mega team," said Romero. "She is a veteran in general market CHR radio and has a lot to bring to the table."
Even though she is only 27 years old, Chi Chi, whose real name is Janine Crespo, has been in CHR radio for many years. At the young age of 16, she became a DJ on Beasley Broadcasting's WPOW-FM/Power 96 in Miami, where she first hosted the "Power Love Hour" weekdays from 10:00pm to Midnight. Less than a year later, Chi Chi was promoted to afternoons, where she had a #1 rated show for over four years. She then moved to San Antonio in 2006 to become the afternoon host at Cox Radio's KPWT-FM/Power 106.7. In early November 2008, she was released due to budget cutbacks there. Although she is a veteran of CHR formated radio, this will be her first job on a Hispanic CHR formated station.
She moved to Chicago last week, is very happy to be here and very happy to be employed once again. "I'm ready to take on nights at Mega 95.5," said Chi Chi. "I'm filled with enthusiasm and excited to call Chicago home. If you see me on the streets of Chicago, let's celebrate!"
