WLS-AM is taking its advertising to the streets - literally. Ads for the Citadel/ABC-owned talk radio station will be seen on CTA buses all month long. The ads are basically one five letter word, spelled all in capital letters: TRUST.
The advertising campaign is purposely simplistic. Since these ads will be on moving buses, they are designed to instantly grab the viewers' attention and convey a message. The message in this case is that WLS is the radio station Chicagoans can trust. It doesn't say "trust for news," "trust for information," "trust for opinion," "trust for truth," or just what they are so trustworthy of, but then again, that isn't really the point. The point of the ads are to strike a chord with the person seeing them and subconsciously influence them to turn on their station.
WLS-AM tried advertising on CTA buses two years ago, as well. The ads then featured most of their on-air main stars of that time: Don & Roma, Jerry Agar, Rush Limbaugh, Roe Conn & the Carnable Wagon Crew, Sean Hannity and Mark Levin. It was a lot of faces on a black background with the WLS-AM logo and "Chicago's Talk Station" slogan.
