A big surprise and loss for Clear Channel Radio Chicago! Kenard Karter has accepted a position with KMEL-FM in San Fransico, CA, beginning in just under a month. He becomes Music Director and Assistant Program Director for 106 KMEL, SF's Clear Channel-owned Hip Hop station.

It was just over a month ago that Rick Vaughn, WKSC-FM's Program Director, announced that Kenard "K2" Karter was officially taking over as Music Director for Kiss-FM, along with his duties as Music Director of WGCI-FM, which he had been doing since 2007.

This now leaves WKSC without a Music Director yet again. Outside of K2's one month of service, the station has not had one since Jeff "Smash Ditty" Murray was forced out from the station in budget cuts a year ago.

Kenard Karter is a Chicago native, who joined Clear Channel radio in Chicago in 2004 as production assistant, as well as an overnight & weekend DJ for WGCI. He has worked his way up the ladder ever since.

There is no word on who will replace Karter in Chicago or when a decision will be made.
