I wonder if this is the REAL Jake Hartford show and the one on WCPT was the a show where management told him to dial down his conservative leanings. Sounds like he is just doing what he used to do at WLS, with no restrictions. He still talks about non-political subjects too.
: I am a fan of Jake Hartford and was really excited he was returning to WLS. I live downstate and I could not hear him on his previous station.
: Saturday I awoke and sleepily turned on the radio. There was Jake and I pulled the covers up and snuggled down, expecting him to tease the callers and play his goofy, obscure music. Instead, I got more and more depressed. He talked politics, and seemed almost bitter about Obama and Biden. Everything I heard was politics, snide and angry. I turned to another station. I tried WLS again the next hour, and still, Jake was not his old self. Everything I heard him talk about was anti-Obama, anti-Democrat, anti-government. He now fits in perfectly with Rush, et al. I always thought of Jake as moderate, but no longer.
: Which is fine. He can have any kind of show he wants. I can turn the station.
: But from my point of view, the last thing I want to hear or think about at 5 on a Saturday morning is angry politics. Doesn't anyone on talk radio have fun any more? Everyone has gotten so serious, everyone is so political. Must politics be everywhere? Can't we ever laugh and take some time out from the nastiness of Sarah and Olbermann, from the name-calling and just have a good talk, a fun talk? Jake was that for me and now he's not. I know, I know. Just turn the station. My point is that there's not much left on talk radio that I enjoy listening to. I miss Jake. He's back, but I miss him.
: Sigh.
