: Let it PLEASE be true!

This email from thier Myspace page which was apparently during their December 2008 "off the air" time, probably sums up the reason they're going "off the air" again. It sounds to me like the "family" has a lot of ego and the owner just had enough. But without further ado..:

Vito…I am answering this with Greg copied. I am reluctant to get into the business arrangement that the family had with the station, but the decision was made by the Family Values people and the radio station to not renew our brokered agreement. A brokered relationship is very different than an employee/employer relationship. We have other shows on our station that have a similar business arrangement such as "Cutting Edge" with Shelly and Anita Drobny (the founders of the Air American Network), Mike Nowak's gardening program (he is a gardening consultant in Chicago) and several others. This is something that is quite common in talk radio programming, especially on the weekends. However, this is a bit more complicated than a simple broker/station arrangement because of the fact the show really did fit in with our station's weekly format. Beyond that, I am reluctant to say much more other to tell you that there was a disagreement between the station and the family as to that brokered relationship in the future.

As for the program's content, good talk radio engenders passion and opinion and the "Family Values" show certainly did that. Have I been one of the biggest supporters of the show itself, standing up for their right to say what they believe to anyone who may have disagreed? The answer to that question is a big YES. Again, I will not get into details, but I can tell you that I have been a big supporter of the show. Plain and simple fact…this was a business decision that was made by the station and the family and although there is disagreement on the business part of the relationship, I have NEVER wavered from my support of the show and Greg and I have spent more than a few hours talking about that support. In fact, the door is open to them to continue with this relationship. In fact, I will be talking to Greg about other opportunities with the station, but there really is not much more to it than the end of a brokered relationship.

I have really tried to give this a very thoughtful reply without necessarily going into the details of a business arrangement. In the end, both the Morelli family and the station both did agree that the arrangement was not something that could continue on its current basis. I am happy that you will continue to listen to the station and I hope that you will support the Brickhouse as you support the station.
