This afternoon, WSCR's Dan McNeil and Matt Spiegel will be doing a live remote from Murphy's Bleachers, located at 3653 North Sheffield Avenue in Chicago, just a matter of feet away from Wrigley Field. At the same time, at the same location, WIP's midday hosts, Anthony Gargano and Glen Macnow will be doing a live remote for their Philadelphia sports radio station. They are in town to report on Saturday's Stanley Cup Finals taking place at the United Center. Their station, WIP-AM, is the flagship station for the Philadelphia Flyers.
Both stations thought it would be a great idea to team-up and do a group show, with all four hosts from both stations together doing what could be a spirited broadcast. The same show will air on both stations in both parts of the country and streamed live on www.670thescore.com and www.610wip.com.
The Score's Dan McNeil said, "We look forward to welcoming our guests from Philadelphia. To make them feel at home, we've ordered fog similar to the one that blinded Randall Cunningham and the Eagles in the NFC Divisional Playoff Game in '88. ...And an attitude."
WIP's Anthony Gargano said, "Isn't this what we live for? Philadelphia versus Chicago. Two great sports towns, food towns, character towns. Two Original 12 teams playing for Lord Stanley's Cup. It's time for two legendary radio stations to drop the gloves. We're feeling Flyerish."
Since the show is being recorded in front of a live Wrigleyville audience, one would imagine that WIP's hosts will quickly realize that they are no longer in "The City of Brotherly Love" and they will find little love or support in their arguments for the Flyers.
Both sports radio stations are owned by CBS Radio.
