There is a huge change coming to WPWX-FM, better known to most Chicagoans as Power 92.3. The Crawford-owned Urban station is now adding to their on-air line-up. As has been talked about in the past month, the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show is moving over from sister-station WSRB-FM/Soul 106.3. This change becomes effective next week.
Nobody is losing a job. The daytime personalities on the station will just have shortened time slots to accommodate the addition of Joyner's show.
As of Tuesday, June 1st, the Power 92 weekday line-up should look like this:
The Tom Joyner Morning Show - 5:00am-9:00am
Trey Da Choklit Jok - 9:00am-Noon
Shawn Knight - Noon-3:00pm
Sam Sylk - 3:00pm-6:00pm
Hot Boyz - 6:00pm-10:00pm
DJ Pharris - 10:00pm-2:00am
Ozman - 2:00am-5:00am
This move puts Tom Joyner's show on a stronger signal, able to reach more of his Chicago fanbase. It also keeps the current Power 92 staff in place, so none of their fans are put off by a firing. (It also keeps any of their talented staff from moving to competitor WGCI-FM, the place where many are originally from.)
No official word yet on what will fill the morning show void at Crawford's Soul 106.3.
