June is "Chicago Television Month" at the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

In addition to the upcoming event, "A Salute to Chicago Television," which is a fundraiser for MBC that has three generations of local Chicago television stars reuniting together for one special night, there is one other special project related to Chicago television to mention. The website for the Museum of Broadcast Communication now has a new section entitled, "Chicago Television: The Online Exhibit."

"Chicago Television: The Online Exhibit" (http://www.museum.tv/exhibitionssection.php?page=561) has been developed by Steve Jajkowski, Chicago television historian and co-editor of the recent Images of America book "Chicago Television." (http://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Television-Images-America-Edited/dp/0738577138?&camp=212361&linkCode=wsw&tag=wyjefasi-20&creative=380797) This special Internet-only collection features videos of some of the most popular shows in local TV history.

So far, "Chicago Television: The Online Exhibit" features over 60 programs, over 20 clips, almost 20 news specials from the 1950's on up, and 6 newly produced pieces just for this site. More videos will be added throughout the month of June and going forward. Video highlights from the June 11th "A Salute to Chicago Television" will also be posted up there soon after the benefit takes place.

This new online exhibit features several rare examples of Chicago TV, including clips & episodes from "Stud's Place," "Kup's Show," "Kukla, Fran & Ollie," "Garroway at Large," "Bozo's Circus" (full episodes including commercials!), "Cartoon Town," "Tin Pan Alley TV," "Jim Lounsbury's Record Hop," and "AM Chicago." Also included are early newsreels and full Chicago newscasts.

All of these video treasures can be seen at the link below.
