Greg Brown, who's been a gracious part of Chicago radio's past for decades, just became part of the future of "True Oldies" WZZN-FM (94.7).

Rounding out a revamped lineup to be announced today at the Citadel Broadcasting station, Brown has been hired to host from 4 to 8 p.m. weekdays.

Gone from the station is John Records Landecker, whose last day as afternoon personality was Wednesday. Although he'd been expected to work through the end of his contract Friday, early word in this column prompted management to move up his exit.

WZZN's new lineup includes an additional hour for Dick Biondi, the legendary evening star and Radio Hall of Famer.

The schedule will be: Scott Mackay from 5 to 9 a.m., Scott Shannon (via recorded voice tracks) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Brown from 4 to 8 p.m., and Biondi from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Brown, a native of northwest suburban Crystal Lake, started as morning host at WBBM-FM (96.3) in 1974. Among other stops, he hosted middays for 13 years at WKQX-FM (101.1) and for 11 years at WJMK-FM (104.3), where he worked with both Biondi and Landecker.

Landecker will still be heard on WZZN as host of "Into the '70s," a syndicated oldies show, from 7 p.m. to midnight Sundays, starting Oct. 21. He continues to fill in on news/talk sister station WLS-AM (890).

As for his future, Landecker said he's teaming with veteran talk host Turi Ryder to form a radio partnership. The two filled in four times together at WLS.

"I'll bet money we're better than anything anyone else has on now anyway," he said.
