WFMT faces cuts

Fine arts station WFMT-FM (98.7) plans cuts totaling $200,000, about 2.5 percent of the station's $8 million annual budget.

WFMT general manager Steve Robinson said he expects the cuts to involve one or two part-time employees, as well as reductions in the station's travel and discretionary funds budget. "Altogether, the cuts will have a fairly minimal impact on our operations," said Robinson.

Like just about every other media outlet in Chicago, Robinson said WFMT struggled to reach its ad sales goal of $3 million for the just-ending fiscal year.
