She may have been born & raised an LA girl, but Roxanne Steele has been a Chicago woman for a great many years. Although she has done radio shows in four other states, it was Chicago where she found radio fame. For a dozen years, she was a friendly voice on B96 and for nine months, she did what she could to help out WCFS-FM. However, with the Chicago radio market having become a tough place for radio veterans, Roxanne is packing up the truck and moving on -- literally.
Steele and her family are leaving Chicago this weekend to move to Detroit, MI. Her husband is a Detroit native and after him living in Chicago for her for years, its time for her to now live in his hometown.
She will be kept plenty busy while there in Motown. Ms. Steele is finishing the writing of her autobiography, "Girl Behind The Mic," which details out the many obstacles she has had to overcome in her life (most of which has never been made public) and the joys of her radio career. Also, a radio station in Detroit has already grabbed her and signed her up. Starting soon, Roxanne will be heard on the Citadel-owned WDVD-FM 96.3, Detroit's Hot AC station, and a consistent Top 10 ratings winner. (A radio station very similar to Chicago's WTMX-FM).
Chicago's loss will be Detroit's gain.
The Michigan-bound personality had this to say to her Chicago fans this weekend: "To the greatest radio fans in the world, thank you for your friendship and for listening to me through the years. Your love and support has touched me more than you'll ever know. Without you I am nothing and with you I'm inspired to be so much more!"
Best wishes To Roxanne Steele on this new chapter of her life!
