: Don't get too excited about Kerry Sayers joining 670 The SCORE full time just yet. The CBS Radio-owned sports talker & flagship of the Chicago White Sox Radio Network has been shorthanded all week, not just with update anchors but with hosts as well with Mike Mulligan, Brian Hanley, Dan McNeil & Dan Bernstein all off the very same week. I don't think we'll ever really know why Comcast SportsNet decided not to renew Kerry's contract, let alone why other owned & operated stations in this market haven't exactly given her a call about joining their team. I realize we are still very much in a recession, but folks, I'd rather watch Kerry do 3 minutes or so of sports than seeing bumbling, stumbling Mike Adamle & Daryl Hawks on NBC5, for examples, any day of the week! It's not just eye candy, but the likes of Kerry, CSN's Sarah Kustok & Gail Fischer, NBC5's Paula Faris & Peggy Kusinski, CBS2's Megan Mawicke & FOX32's Jill Carlson should be looked at on whether they know their sports as well as their male counterparts. I think they do, and it's very unfortunate that Kerry hasn't received more interest since CSN decided to let her go. Besides, with the exceptions of national ESPN Radio "SportsCenter" anchors Amy Laurence & Christine Leasy, there are NO FEMALES on either all-sports station in Chicago.
Perhaps if Kerry Sayers joined ESPN, she could even host ESPN Sports Saturday on ABC. If this happened, it ought to boost ratings on KXLY in Spokane as well as KOMO here in Seattle, not to mention their Portland sister-station KATU. Same would apply on WRIC Richmond/Petersburg as well as WSOC in Charlotte. Same would go for WJLA in Washington, WDAY/WDAZ Fargo-Grand Forks, N.D., WMAR in Baltimore, WRTV in Indy, KNXV in Phoenix, KRCR, Chico-Redding, Ca., ect.
