WFMT breaks membership drive record

WFMT-FM (98.7) broke last summer's record by raising $438,000 for the Window to the World Communications classical outlet during its June membership drive.

"Given the state of the economy, we're thrilled to have done so well," said Steve Robinson, senior vice president and general manager. "It shows once again that the love Chicago has for WFMT -- its only classical music station -- is backed by a commitment to support it financially."

Online audience pledges came from as a far away as Japan and Turkey, he added.
