JONATHON BRANDMEIER is returning to CHICAGO radio as morning man at TRIBUNE Talk WGN-A, starting WEDNESDAY (12/7). BRANDMEIER will replace GREG JARRETT in the 5:30-9a (CT) slot at the heritage talk station.
BRANDMEIER has been off the air for the last two years after leaving then-EMMIS Rock WLUP. His local resume includes two stints at the LOOP and a run at CBS RADIO then-Talk WCKG; he has also worked at KYSR and KLSX/LOS ANGELES and KZZP/PHOENIX.
The lineup will also add a new lead-in show for BRANDMEIER to air 5-5:30a, hosted by BILL LEFF. STEVE BERTRAND will anchor news for BRANDMEIER, while JIM GUDAS moves to anchor news in middays and afternoons.
"JONATHON BRANDMEIER is a CHICAGO superstar and we're thrilled to have him on the air, at the station where he belongs," said VP/GM TOM LANGMYER in a press release. "JOHNNY's high energy, humor and unique CHICAGO experience make him an exceptional fit as 'The Voice of CHICAGO' evolves with another generation of listeners."
On JARRETT's departure, LANGMYER said, "We're thankful for the contributions GREG has made to the station for the past two and a half years and we wish him nothing but the best." (Source: All Access)
