I’ve made a very difficult choice to leave the job I love to work on solving Illinois’ budget crisis. Gov. Quinn is appointing me Assistant Budget Director for the state. That puzzled look on your face is the same one I gave him when he asked me to take the spot a few weeks ago. Apparently he’s actually read some of the 700 or so stories I’ve written over the last 25 years taking apart federal, state, county and city budgets. “Abdon, you do a very good job taking these complex budget issues and explaining them so people can understand them – and a large part of this job is communication.” I’ve been picking through state budgets since Gov.
