Telemundo transfers Chicago news chief to L.A. sister station
Esteban Creste, who guided an expansion of Spanish-language news at NBC/ Telemundo's WSNS-Channel 44, is headed for Los Angeles.
After more than three years as vice president of news and news director here, he's shifting to Telemundo's KVEA-TV in L.A. as vice president of news.
"I'm very happy with the new challenge ahead of me and my new team in L.A.," Creste said. "And I'm particularly happy that I leave behind in Chicago a very solid team, committed to the highest values of journalism of providing relevant information to our viewers to have a positive impact in their lives."
Ed Fernandez, president and general manager, said Creste helped transform the station into "a vibrant, well-respected and award-winning unit."
A search for his replacement is under way.
Creste joined Channel 44 in 2004 from Telemundo's WNJU-TV in New York, where he had been managing editor.
Creste, a native of Uruguay, lived in Argentina, Spain and Mexico before he came to the United States in 1984. A former reporter and public affairs host, he also worked for Wado Radio and El Diario La Prensa.
