Cara added to the Mix


The once-sad story of Cara Carriveau turned out to have a happy ending after all.

In 2006, after eight years at Emmis Communications classic rock WLUP-FM (97.9), Carriveau was fired as midday personality after she spoke out in a letter to this column about so many local radio icons being out of work.

On Tuesday, she was named permanent midday personality at Bonneville International hot adult-contemporary WTMX-FM (101.9), where she'd been working part-time since leaving the Loop.

She succeeds Renee Dubay, who exited last April.

"Cara's well-rounded talents will be a welcome addition to Chicago's office listening," said Mary Ellen Kachinske, program director of the Mix.
