I am looking for former announcers on WYEN-FM 107 REQUEST RADIO in Des Plaines, Illinois. The station was owned by Ed Walters of Walt-West Enterprises from 1971 to 1985 and aired mainly request music by listeners in Chicagoland. Kenn Heinlein(air name Kenn Harris) and I used to work on WYEN in the mid to late 1970's and we're working on a book, THE WYEN EXPERIENCE. This is a compilation of memories from ex-WYEN personalities. WYEN was one of the last training grounds for up and coming young communicators. Among the broadcasters that came through the station were Garry Meier of WGN, Bob Roberts of WBBM All News Radio, Greg Brown of WLS-FM, Mike Roberts of WTMX, and Beth Kaye, formerly of WKQX. Kenn and I hope that you'll read this and remember some of the announcers and possibly know where they are today, such as Dan Lusk (Diamond), John Zur, John Watkins, and Wayne Allen. Also if you remember the station and have something interesting to say, we're happy to take note for the book. THANK YOU.

This is the type of message I really like because it helps beef up the book with valuable recollections of WYEN. Like the message from Mark and from Hunter, I welcome opportunities to find out more....and use some of it for the book.
I am two chapters away from finishing The WYEN Experience, believe it or not. Been a very long process, but I've reached so many former employees and received wonderful stories that I'll tell in the book.
My email address is in case you'd like to contact me directly.
THANK YOU, Stew Cohen

The WYEN Experience comes out in January. The publisher and I are working on the final stages to finish the book.
You'll find the book on iUniverse online bookstore. I will also have copies to autograph (if you'd like) and send out.
Once again, don't expect the book until January. I don't know the specific date just yet.
