Rob Feder and All Access report:

CUMULUS Talk WLS-A/CHICAGO Operations Dir. DREW HAYES is returning to sister Talk KABC-A/LOS ANGELES as PD.

PD TRACY SLUTZKIN will continue overseeing programming at WLS, and HAYES will not be replaced for his operations duties. HAYES served as KABC PD in 1998-2000; he has also programmed or managed CBS News WBBM-A, Sports WSCR-A (670 THE SCORE), and Talk WCKG/CHICAGO as well as ESPN RADIO, and was on air at several stations before that as a talk host and News Director.

“I’m really excited for the next chapter,” HAYES told FEDER. “I appreciate the confidence that CUMULUS has shown in me and in what we’ve built at WLS. It’s in great hands with TRACY.”

VP/Market Manager DONNA BAKER said, “There’s very few situations that a market manager and an operations manager have to go through like the one we’ve been through in such a short period of time (including several lineup changes, the departure of longtime morning team DON WADE AND ROMA due to DON's illness, the death of midday co-host JAKE HARTFORD). DREW and I have kind of been through the war together. From a professional standpoint, I’ve learned a lot from him, and have great admiration for his talent. He’s very good at what he does. I’m confident that TRACY will be able to carry forward the vision of WLS that we’ve discussed and that DREW and TRACY have crafted.”
