Ottawan's show will debut on FM dial
Beginning Monday, radio comics Mike Tomano and Ottawa resident Steve Touhy will return to the Will County frequency where they began their partnership more than 12 years ago.
WYKT-FM 105.5 will air "The Tomano and Touhy Radio Show" weekdays from 6 to 9 a.m.
The program will be simulcast on WKAN-AM 1320, where Tomano and Touhy reunited last October after a five-year hiatus. The show also will stream audio at www.wkan.com.
"We couldn't be more excited about being back in the area. We've been talking about it for a long time," said Touhy, who also is teaming with Tomano in a few two-man comedy shows.
Tomano and Touhy were on the air at WYKT during their initial run in the late 1990s, and again from 2001 to 2003. The show is a mixture of comedy and commentary, along with celebrity interviews, phone calls and local news.
Together, Tomano and Touhy have won five Silver Dome Awards for Broadcast Excellence from the Illinois Broadcasters Association and were nominated for this year's award for Best Broadcast Team.
Every week in July and August, Touhy and Tomano will introduce the beginning of "My Idol" karaoke contests in two La Salle County contests. The 8 p.m. shows will be Wednesdays at Nicky's Restaurant and Lounge, 301 N. Main St., Seneca, and Thursdays at Drinkers Union Local 222, 222 W. Madison St., Ottawa.
