NEWSWEB Talk WCPT-A (CHICAGO'S PROGRESSIVE TALK)/CHICAGO is moving from its present 850 AM to the 820 AM signal of sister WAIT-A, which presently airs the RELEVANT RADIO Catholic network. Both signals are daytimers, but 820 is 5,000 watts nondirectional from a tower on CHICAGO's north side while 850 is 2,500 watts directional from towers in CRYSTAL LAKE on the fringes of CHICAGO's northwest suburbs. The move will double the station's power and dramatically increases WCPT's listening area to reach MILWAUKEE to the north and KANKAKEE to the south.
The WAIT call letters will move to 850 AM, where they resided in 1986-2005.
"With the 2008 elections approaching, we're thrilled to give Progressive Talk radio an even stronger voice in CHICAGO," WCPT GM HARVEY WELLS. "Listeners throughout Chicagoland will hear such dynamic and distinct voices as ED SCHULTZ, STEPHANIE MILLER and RANDI RHODES."
The changes will occur on NOVEMBER 26.
