Lacy Banks will be honored

SUN-TIMES SPORTS reporter Lacy Banks, a 35-year-vet with the paper who has been valiantly fighting cancer and a serious heart ailment, got this good news: He is among the honorees to receive the Sam Lacy Pioneer award for sports at the National Association of Black Journalists' awards program July 25 at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers. Baseball legend Minnie Minoso and football great Gale Sayers will also be honored.
