It didn't take long for former Bear-turned-radio host Dan Hampton to get picked up by another team.
Starting Sept. 2, the former defensive tackle and Pro Football Hall of Famer will join Laurence Holmes from 10 a.m. to noon weekdays on CBS Radio sports/talk WSCR-AM (670).
The new duo will succeed Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley, who were promoted to replace Mike North as morning hosts on the Score.
In early June, Hampton was cut after 13 years as weekend co-host of "Sports Central" and Bears pre-game and post-game shows on Tribune Co.-owned news/talk WGN-AM (720).
Hampton's new one-year deal, via agent Bryan Harlan, also calls for him to contribute to post-game Bears coverage on CBS all-news WBBM-AM (780).
"It's time to let the Bear out of his cage," quipped Mitch Rosen, program director of the Score. "The combination of these two guys will be magic coming out of the speakers."
Holmes, a 10-year veteran of the Score, most recently has been a Bears reporter and fill-in host. He was renewed for three years via agent Joel Weisman.
