Q101 dumps the 'Morning Fix'

Somewhere, Mancow Muller is laughing his head off.

For the third time since they dumped "Mancow's Morning Madhouse" in July 2006, the bosses of Emmis Communications' alternative rock WKQX-FM (101.1) are trying to replace him.

On Friday, Q101.1 pulled the plug on the low-rated morning team of Alan Cox and Jim Lynam, who were remnants of the failed "Morning Fix" ensemble that originally succeeded Muller. Weekend host Alex Quigley will fill in next week.

Starting Aug. 11, Cox and Lynam will be replaced by Brian Sherman and Steve Tingle, who've been co-hosting afternoons on Q101.1 since May 2007.

No replacement was named for the afternoon slot.

Muller continues to host a nationally syndicated morning radio show from Chicago, but it's not heard in this market. He's suing Emmis Communications and Q101.1 over his dismissal.
