From Feder this AM:
Try, try again
Morning success keeps eluding Q101.1
August 6, 2008
BY ROBERT FEDER Sun-Times Columnist
It's probably not a good sign when a radio station trots out its fourth morning show in little more than two years.
But that will be the case Monday when Brian Sherman and Steve Tingle shift from afternoons to mornings on alternative rock WKQX-FM (101.1). No word yet on who will replace them in afternoons.
In dumping "Morning Fix" holdovers Alan Cox and Jim Lynam last week, bosses of the Emmis Communications station again hoped to recover from their decision to part ways with Mancow Muller in July 2006. In hindsight, it's looking worse than ever.
In the latest Arbitron survey, Q101.1 ranks 26th in mornings with a 1.4 percent share.
Is it just me or does Feder have an obsession with Mancow? And I can't quite figure out if he likes Mancow or doesn't. But he likes the idea of bringing him up a few times a month in a column. This isn't really the 4th actual show since Mancow, it's more like the 2nd.
