This year's local 'Top' models
Two local teens will compete for Tyra's attention
Two of the 30 women competing for 14 slots on the next season of "America's Next Top Model" hail from the Chicago area -- and both are named Brittany. Each has taken a nickname to distinguish herself from yet another Brittany, a 19-year-old from Nevada.
Brittany "McKey," 19, is a martial arts expert from Lake Forest. Brittany "ShaRaun," 18, is a student from Chicago.
Adding to the interest in the 11th "Top Model" season, starting Wednesday, is preoperative transgender contestant Isis, who identifies herself as "a woman born physically male."
Here's how the two gals from Illinois compare:
MCKEY
McKey sounds like something you'd order off the dollar menu at McDonald's.
"A lot of people where I come from, they decided that, well, hey, I'm pretty good looking. So, maybe it would be a good idea for me."
"My personality. I am very friendly, I am very outgoing and I am very competitive. I am most definitely a 'go get 'em' girl, and I will get down and dirty with it."
"I'm this big fighter girl and I think she's ten-fold more brave than I am," McKey says in Wednesday's opener.
SHARAUN
Sure, she could have gone with plain, old "Sharon," but not our gal. It is ShaRaun.
"For some girls, 'America's Next Top Model' was a choice. For me, I was born into this. This was something I always wanted to do and guess what? I am America's next top model. I will be."
"I'm kind of funky with the crazy hair. [I'm] kind of outgoing. I love my big eyes. I had to grow to like them. At first, I didn't like them that much. You gotta love my signature smile. Oh, yeah. Sometimes, it tends to get too big, though. It runs in my family. I get it from my mom. ... Big smile, I love it!"
"America's next top model isn't going to be a drag queen," replies ShaRaun.
