Two more Chicago broadcast legends have recently published noteworthy memoirs:

From Bill Jackson, popular children's show host in the '60s and '70s, comes The Only Kid on the Carnival -- An Extraordinary Childhood (from iUniverse Inc.).

It traces Jackson's difficult youth and poignant personal journey before he gained fame as creator and host of "Cartoon Town," "The B.J. & Dirty Dragon Show" and "Gigglesnort Hotel."

It's available at amazon.com.

Art Hellyer, the king of Chicago radio in the '50s (who enjoyed great success through the '80s) and an ABC television network announcer for 31 years, has self-published The Hellyer Say, a collection of anecdotes and autobiographical essays.

Hellyer's witty and creative style influenced a generation of avid followers. The book includes a foreword by radio historian Chuck Schaden.

It's available at www.lulu.com.
