Chicago radio's newest showcase for local talent might just have the worst title in broadcasting.
Clear Channel Radio urban contemporary powerhouse WGCI-FM (107.5) this weekend will premiere "Go Ill," a program featuring hip-hop and R&B songs by unsigned, independent artists from the Chicago area.
Airing at 9 p.m. Saturdays, the show derives its title from the last two letters of "Chicago" and the first three letters of "Illinois." "Go Ill," get it?
Hosted by the mix show DJ known as Timbuk2, the show also will include interviews with the artists about their music, videos and other projects.
"With so much talent here in the city, the potential of this new show is tremendous," said Kris Kelly, program director of WGCI.
Even if the title stinks.
