Sun-Times to buyout old staffers

Veteran's day: Sun-Times Media Group, which looks to eliminate newsroom jobs from the flagship Chicago Sun-Times, has reached a tentative agreement with the Newspaper Guild to offer buyouts to staffers who have been with the scrappy tabloid 25 years or longer, the union said Friday.

A company spokeswoman did not respond to a request for comment.

Volunteers accepted for the buyout would get a year of health insurance in addition to the severance pay and re-hire provisions in the guild's contract.
