Steve Stone becomes White Sox TV analyst
CHICAGO - Steve Stone has agreed to a six-year contract to become the analyst for Chicago White Sox's TV broadcasts beginning next season. The club has an option for 2015.
Stone is currently in his first year as the White Sox radio color analyst. He spent two decades working in the Cubs broadcast booth working alongside Harry Caray and Chip Caray until 2004.
Stone pitched for both the Cubs and White Sox during his major league career and won 25 games in 1980 for the Baltimore Orioles when he captured the AL Cy Young Award.
He's been a popular analyst with his insight and opinions.
"For me, it's a wonderful opportunity," Stone said. "I realized this year how much I truly love broadcasting. I realized that I just love to broadcast baseball games on a daily basis."
Stone will work alongside play-by-play man Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, who is in his 19th consecutive season in the White Sox broadcast booth.
The White Sox did not exercise their 2009 option on current TV color analyst, Darrin Jackson. Jackson has been offered the analyst's role on the team's radio broadcasts but has yet to make a decision.
