Geoffrey Baer will host Chicago's 23rd annual Golden Apple Awards, honoring 10 local teachers for excellence in the classroom, at 8 p.m. Thursday on Window to the World Communications' WTTW-Channel 11.

Baer brings solid credentials to the role. Before becoming a program producer and host, he taught high school for five years.
