Nair Named ABC News Anchor
ABC News' Vinita Nair has been named co-anchor of "World News Now" and "America This Morning," News President David Westin announced today. She joins Jeremy Hubbard as co-anchor of ABC News' early morning news programs. In addition, Ms. Nair will contribute reports to all other ABC News' broadcasts and platforms.
"We're pleased that Vinita has agreed to expand her role at ABC News," said ABC News President David Westin. "She has already demonstrated her versatility and strength as a journalist, and she will be a great asset to World News Now and America this Morning."
Vinita Nair joined ABC News as an anchor/correspondent for ABC News NOW in December 2007. In that role she anchored live coverage and news briefs for ABC's digital network.
Prior to joining ABC News, Ms. Nair was lead evening reporter and anchor at KWGN-TV, the CW affiliate in Denver. She started at the station in July of 2004 and reported on a wide range of topics including the Jon Benet Ramsey murder investigation and the Bailey, Colorado School Shootings. Previously Ms. Nair was an anchor and reporter for KOLN/KGIN-TV in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she anchored daily morning and afternoon newscasts.
Ms. Nair began her career in television news at WGEM-TV, the NBC affiliate in Quincy, Illinois, as a general assignment reporter. She has also worked for WYCC-TV, Chicago's Public Access Network and the Illinois' Evanston Community Cable Channel.
Ms. Nair was both a writer for Today's Chicago Woman, and a reporter for Talk Radio News in Washington D.C. prior to pursuing television journalism,
A graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in Evanston, Illinois, Ms Nair is originally from Colleyville, Texas.
