: AUSTIN -- As R&R '08 rolls on, our second in our series of lunches was held on Thursday (Sept. 18), where we also gave away the R&R Industry Achievement Awards for PD, MD and Personality/Show of the Year in all formats. KIIS/Los Angeles cleaned up in top 40, as PD John Ivey, MD Julie Pilat and morning phenomenon Ryan Seacrest all won in their categories. The same went for crosstown KROQ, which got the alternative trifecta thanks to PD Kevin Weatherly, MD Lisa Worden and morning pair Kevin & Bean. : : In rhythmic, KPWR (Power 106)/L.A. PD Jimmy Steal and morning dude Big Boy picked up awards, while WBBM (B96)/Chicago's Erik Bradley was installed as MD of the Year. In a nice move, newly anointed Clear Channel/Washington, D.C., OM Thea Mitchem won Urban PD of the Year for her last gig at WUSL (Power 99)/Philadelphia, while Power 99 Kashon Powell got MD of the Year, and KBFB/Dallas morning guy Rickey Smiley was given Personality of the Year. : : In AC, WBEB (B101)/Philly's Chuck Knight got PD, while WLTW (106.7 Lite FM)/New York's Morgan Prue scored MD, and Bobby Rich at KMXZ (94.9 Mix FM)/Tucson was given Personality of the Year. For hot AC, Mary Ellen Kachinske from WTMX (101.9 the Mix)/Chicago was in the house to pick up her PD award and Personality of the Year for her morning pair Eric & Kathy, while MD of the Year went to WBMX (Mix 98.5)/Boston's Mike Mullaney. : : Also on hand was Bill Weston from WMMR/Philadelphia, who won Active Rock PD of the Year and Personality of the Year for Preston & Steve; WRIF/Detroit's Mark Pennington was installed as MD of the Year in that format. Rock PD of the Year went to KSHE/St. Louis' Rick Balis, while WEBN/Cincinnati won MD for Dave Fritz and Personality for "The Dawn Patrol." And in oldies/classic hits, congrats to KRTH (K-Earth 101)/Los Angeles' Jhani Kaye for winning PD of the Year and "Ross Brittain & the Breakfast Club" at WOGL/Philadelphia on Personality of the Year. : : Joel Burke from KYGO/Denver was awarded Country PD of the Year, WUSN/Chicago's Marci Braun scored MD, and WSIX/Nashville's Gerry House & the House Foundation picked up Personality in that format. The Latin awards went to KXOL/Los Angeles' Pio Ferro for PD and "Piolin por la Manana" at crosstown KSCA for Personality of the Year. : : WNUA/Chicago PD Darren Davis got Smooth Jazz PD of the Year, with KIFM/San Diego's Kelly Cole getting MD and Broadcast Architecture's Dave Koz coming in for Personality. At urban AC, it was WMMJ/Washington's Kathy Brown with PD of the Year, WRKS/New York's Julie Gustines with MD and WJMZ/Greenville, S.C.'s Kelly Mac for Personality. : : After all that, R&R's Erica Farber did a special live "Publisher's Profile" interview on stage with comedian/actor/musician Wayne Brady, who proved to be just as entertaining live as he is on TV. Brady then showed off his mad musical skillz with a short set from his new album "A Long Time Coming," and we recommend you check out his show at the Venetian in Las Vegas if you're in the neighborhood.
