A West Side college student was killed in southern Illinois along with her friend when a driver for the VH1 reality show "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels" apparently fell asleep, his vehicle crossed a median and slammed into the students' SUV.

Kevetta Davis, 19, a 2007 Walter Payton College Prep graduate, was a Southern Illinois University sophomore planning to become a pharmacist, her aunt said.

"It was like she was the light of the family," said the aunt, Jacqueline Robinson. "She was extremely smart and ... whenever she walked into a room, she just lit it up."

Also killed in the Friday crash was Yasmin Jackson, 19, of Belleville, state police said. Jackson and Davis performed together on an SIU dance team, Robinson said.

Dennis Hernandez, 38, of California, was driving to the reality TV series' next stop when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes of Interstate 57. It struck a pickup truck, injuring two people, then smashed into Jackson's SUV, state police said.

Both women died at the scene, state police said. Hernandez was cited for driving with a suspended license and other offenses.
