Sovereign City's putting Chicago's WNTD (950) up for sale.
Owner Mark Follett stepped in last Fall with his Sovereign City Radio, to pick up a deal that originally was going to lay-Catholic Relevant Radio - with which Follett's no longer involved. He thought of that purchase of fulltime WNTD as a kind of placeholder, I think, and now Sovereign City's Scott Krusinski says the station's being re-tagged for sale. Sovereign City's counting on the fact that it's been a while since a full-time Chicago AM-dial surfaced. Power-wise, WNTD's got an unusual situation - 1-kw daytime (non-directional), but a stronger 5-kw (directional) after sundown. The station previously belonged to Arthur Liu at Multicultural, and it's doing a mix of some English-language and some Spanish-language Catholic programming. Sovereign City's handling the sale itself - on a station it paid $15 million for about a year ago.
