: : It's not a laughing matter for CBS-owned WBZW-FM (93.7) - The station's being sued by a former board op, who claims she was denied a promotion to an on-air position because she was not "girlie" enough. Gab Bonesso, who is also a local-area comedian, was employed by WBZW for just over a year before she was fired in May. She contends when the station flipped from talk to music, she applied for a job as a DJ. She claims, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, that she was told she'd receive the promotion, but it did not materialize. Bonesso says she was told by management if she "were to look & dress more feminine she would be acceptable for the radio announcer position." Bonesso is suing for sex discrimination and unspecified damages.

: good for her. let's see what the outcome is. i think a lot of us have "been there." i myself was discriminated against because i am WHITE and the station wanted to fulfill their equal opportunity responsibilities so they went with a lesser-qualified candidate. i never protested because where does that get you in our industry....blacklisted and working the drive-thru at mcdonalds.

"i never protested because where does that get you in our industry....blacklisted and working the drive-thru at mcdonalds." - And that's exactly why I'm glad this particular board-op decided to protest. These 'old boys' need to learn that we're living in a different world now where people demand respect and accountability.
