Moody Radio VP/Broadcasting Wayne Pederson is leaving.
He's accepting a major new challenge in the world of Christian broadcasting - as the President/CEO of HCJB Global. That's an international radio ministry founded in South America in 1931 by (coincidentally) a Moody Bible Institute graduate. The radio station he started in Quito, Ecuador is named HCJB, and the Colorado Springs-based ministry now operates in more than 100 countries and broadcasts in 120 or so languages, with a budget of $39 million. Wayne joined Moody in the Spring of 2004 as the manager of its Chicago flagships, WMBI (1110) and WMBI-FM (90.1), and took the group VP job two years later. I remember talking with Wayne during his brief one-month tenure as the President of the National Religious Broadcasters - before it became apparent that some NRB members weren't comfortable with his notion that the association should become less involved with politics, and focus more on preaching the gospel. Very down-to-earth man. Wayne says on his blog that he'll start with HCJB on November 1.
