EMF Grabs Its 243rd Station For $1.4M
After operating WEZG-FM under an LMA for about a month, Mike Novak's behemoth Educational Media Foundation has struck a deal to buy the Christian Contemporary outlet licensed to Morganfield, Ky., and targeting the Evansville, Ind., market from J.B. Crawley's Union County Broadcasting for $1.4 million.
The 25,000-watt station is currently programming EMF's popular "K-Love" format but doesn't have a lot of business on the air right now, reports Ed Henson, whose Henson Media was the exclusive broker on the deal. EMF, which is making its debut in the market -- Indiana's third largest city with a population of about 350,000 -- expects to retool the station and build revenues.
