Mancow holds it steady
So far, so good. That's the report from Mike Fowler, president and general manager at Citadel Broadcasting's WLS-AM (890) as we neared the end of Mancow Muller's first week on air at the local talk station. The reaction has been overwhelmingly favorable, though Fowler says he's gotten a couple of calls from disgruntled listeners who want back Jerry Agar, who was dropped from the 9 a.m. to 11 a.m time slot to make room for Muller.
The chemistry between Muller and Pat Cassidy has worked out well enough, Fowler said, given that the two hadn't worked with each other until they did their first show Monday. But Fowler wants to sit down and talk to each separately to see how they feel about Cassidy possibly working with Muller for a while longer. But Fowler said the long-term plan still calls for Cassidy to find a place in the 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. morning show with co-hosts Don Wade and Roma, whom Fowler hopes to have re-signed to a new contract by early next week.
