WTMX-FM, the Chicago radio station commonly known as "The Mix," next Monday launches a new wave of outdoor advertising from Turner Advertising/Chicago that suggests how the station successfully merges music with entertainment via its popular "Eric and Kathy" morning show.
Each execution uses ad copy that tries -- with varying degrees of success -- to phonetically connect the featured musical artist with the radio station's morning duo. To add to the amusement, in each ad Eric or Kathy is made up to somewhat resemble the spotlighted musical artist. Just for the record, Eric makes for an especially convincing Bon Jovi imitator.
We're told WTMX executives are launching this new wave of outdoor work to elevate exposure for the station and its morning stars, and, of course, to generate some excitement. And who doesn't like excitement?!
