Dr. J fouls out at WSCR

After eight years, it's out with "Stocks and Jocks" and its host Jon Najarian (a k a Dr. J) at WSCR-AM (670) and in with the "Mully and Hanley Pre-Game" show, featuring Sun-Times colleagues Mike Mulligan and Brian Hanley. The CBS-owned station's Program Director Mitch Rosen said he wants to keep the focus squarely on sports at the sports/talk station all the time, and he finally concluded Najarian's early morning business show simply wasn't a perfect fit with WSCR's core format. Rosen also said he might incorporate Dr. J back into the lineup at some point by letting him do short-form market reports.

Meanwhile, George Ofman, who already does sports update segments on the "Mully and Hanley" morning drive show, was recruited to anchor the new hourlong "Mully and Hanley Pre-Game" show at 5 a.m., which will be a mix of live and taped segments, with a heavy dose of plugs for the Mully and Hanley main event beginning at 6 a.m.
