He must be using colorful language in relation to Fowler at every chance he gets. : : : Don and Roma contract close, with a few details to iron out : : : : WLS-AM (890) morning drive hosts Don Wade and Roma almost have a new contract in place at Citadel's news/talk WLS-AM (890). A few "nuances" in the contract have caused a delay in getting it signed, per Mike Fowler, market manager for Citadel Broadcasting, which owns news/talk WLS. But Fowler insists the contract will be signed -- perhaps as early as Monday. What's still being worked out at WLS, however, is exactly what role Pat Cassidy will play at the station. Some observers believe Cassidy was initially lured away from CBS-owned WBBM-AM (780), where he had been a fixture for many years, to replace Don and Roma. But Fowler may have been forced to rethink that game plan when the morning drive duo suddenly started pulling markedly stronger ratings after the new people meter rating technology kicked into gear in Chicago last summer. : : Fowler disputes that theory and says Cassidy came to WLS because he hungered to talk about the news, rather than just read the news as he had done for years at WBBM. Fowler has been experimenting with Cassidy working alongside newly hired mid-morning host Mancow Muller and with Don and Roma too, but it's still unclear exactly where Cassidy will finally be put.
