Federal Signal Corp. tapped former Sun-Times Media Group Inc. finance executive Bill Barker to serve as chief financial officer of the Oak Brook manufacturer Wednesday.
As senior vice president and CFO at Federal Signal, Barker will succeed Stephanie Kushner, who Federal said is departing "to pursue other opportunities." Kushner joined Federal as CFO in early 2002, after a thirteen-year stint as an executive at FMC Corp. Her pending departure comes less than three months after Federal ended a lengthy search for a new chief executive officer by naming former Ford Motor Co. official William Osborne to the top job.
Barker joined Sun-Times Media Group in February of 2007, and the struggling Chicago publishing company disclosed late last month that the CFO was leaving in order to "pursue another opportunity." Before joining the publisher of the Chicago Sun-Times, Barker had been chief financial officer at Pepsico Inc.'s Gatorade unit; he had earlier served in a finance role at Fruit of the Loom.
