I don't think anyone will replace them.

I think this firing reflects a shift in what the end-user (listener) wants. Radio used to be where people went for the latest in news, commentary, music, and the etc. With the increased popularity and expansion of the internet, digital cable & satellite TV, and handheld devices, radio isn't the go-to anymore. This morning Steve said "apparently music gets better ratings and is a lot cheaper, so we're out of our jobs..." - he was right. The new ratings system is showing that people don't want the same thing they wanted when radio was at its prime. People are showing that they want background music from their radio.
