First, this is a sad one to me personally because I can remember the first day I heard Steve Dahl, he and Garry did radio commentary on the Rose Bowl parade on January 1, 1980. I was 13 years old and I had heard of Steve (Disco Demolition, of course) but never listened. IT WAS FREAKIN' HYSTERICAL!! I had already decided I was going to go into radio, but growing up in a house that had only ever listened to WTMJ it was with the idea of becoming Jonathan Green. THANK YOU Steve for saving me from such a fate. It was from listening to him that I discovered how great, spontaneous, hilarious radio can be. I still was listening to the podcast to remind me. I have tried in my own small way to NOT be too button down.
Second, this is more of what is killing radio. The PPM is destroying what is left of what was a wonderful industry. The background music wins! Shows with actual content are going to struggle, I can only take confort in the knowledge that it isn't coming to Milwaukee for a little over a year.
Third, will you Milwaukeean with your pitiful inferiority complex please get a grip! Don't like Dahl's show? Fine. But whine about how he picks on Milwaukee or Wisconsin? Grow UP!
The guy along with Buzz Kilman were hilarious and it is going to be a long 2 1/2 years. I have followed him no matter where he was The Loop, WLS FM & AM, (or I was: in high scool in Racine), The Loop FM and AM 1000, still the greatest radio station that EVER existed, (college, interning at WKLH, then taking jobs in Iowa, Virgina, Minnesota), WMVP, WCKG (back to Milwaukee and starting at Metro) thank the internet for podcasting. Good luck to him, I will listen no matter where he turns up.
